Flooding your phone doesn’t have to mean the end of it

One of the most common electronic devices we use is cell phones, and they are the most vulnerable to random accidents.

You’ve probably dropped your smartphone more than once, probably more than once it meant the end of its use. In such cases, we are unable to do anything but return the device to service. However, there are situations where our action can be crucial to the survival of your favorite phone – HIS FALL. Water on our smartphone doesn’t have to be the nail in its coffin. Find out how to behave in order to increase the chance that this equipment will continue to function properly.

The first basic rule, trivial, and yet so rarely followed – Service your equipment! Your laptop is an electronic piece of equipment, operated sometimes 20 hours a day, so when you go to have your car serviced, drop off your computer for service on occasion.

What not to do?

To begin with, it is worth addressing what not to do. The most important thing, after all, is to do no harm. First, we don’t leave the phone in the sun. Overheating the phone will only harm it, so this should be avoided. If the phone doesn’t turn on, let’s not try to start it up every now and then, hoping that it will eventually work. Let’s not plug it in for charging. Chances are that the water did not get too far. Then, after appropriate action in the service, the smartphone will work. A short-circuit when plugged in could spell the ultimate end for it.

Time is of the essence

How we behave in the initial seconds of a flooded phone is crucial. First of all, the phone should be wiped from the outside immediately. Then we open it and take out what can be taken out – the battery, sim card and memory card. In the case of phones whose battery is not available, we take out everything listed earlier, without the battery, of course. Then gently wipe the phone inside. Then we are faced with the choice of further action. First method (recommended) – Get your phone to a professional service as soon as possible. If you have not made the mistakes described in the previous paragraph, chances are that the water has not remained on the motherboard and caused serious damage. Service technicians will take the device apart, clean and dry its various components and reassemble it. About half of the flooded smartphones will be operational after such measures. Druga method (home) – Put the phone in the container with the rice. It has moisture-extracting properties. Keep the phone in it for at least 12 hours, depending on the degree of flooding. A similar effect can be attributed to chia seeds, which, like rice, but with greater efficiency, pull moisture out of such devices. Of course, the phone should be completely immersed in the grains.

No guarantee of home remedies

Each time a phone is flooded and rescued by home means, it gives hope. However, we must realize that home remedies may not be enough. It all depends on what kind of phone you have, what kind of liquid it was flooded with, whether it fell into the liquid all over or perhaps was doused with it, what surface of the display was damaged. There are many factors that influence whether or not we can save our smartphone, so home methods are no guarantee and during this type of crisis situation, it is best to go to a service center.
