DELL starts making jewelry?

Dell is no longer just an electronics company – it now also makes jewelry. Such conclusions can be drawn after following the news of a large corporation.

It turns out that DELL has teamed up with actress and activist Nikki Reed. The result is the Circular Collection, whose jewelry is made from gold recovered from Dell motherboards.

The collection showcases 14- and 18-karat gold rings, earrings and cufflinks that don’t look a bit like they’ve been converted from waste materials.

The jewelry items have a delicate, slender shape and, in keeping with the collection’s name, each accessory has a “circular motif.” For example, earrings and rings show delicate balls or eyes lined with stones. The cufflinks are also round.

Prices for jewelry from the Circular collection start at $88 and are sold through Reed’s Bayou With Love store.

Whether you like the project or not, it’s good to hear that a large corporation like Dell is recovering and recycling valuable materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill. In this way, instead of wasting the material – the company processes it at a profit.

Dell is also using the recovered gold to produce new motherboards as part of a “gold” closed loop. The recovered components are shipped to a new company – Latitude 5285 2-in-1. Dell says it plans to use nearly 50 tons of recycled material in its product portfolio by 2020. This is very good news for the environment.
